Tim Sherwood has started to rebuild his Aston Villa team by signing Micah Richards

Tim Sherwood was able to keep Aston Villa safe in the Premier League for at least another season as the club was 3 points away from being relegated. Surviving in the top flight English league was the main objective of Sherwood and his team, even though this task was fully accomplished; the 46 year old English manager said that there is no reason to celebrate as there are many things that need to be done in order to avoid going through a season similar to this one.

Staying in the bottom spots of a league and hanging by a thread is not something that any manager wants to face with his team and Sherwood is hoping that a scenario similar to this does not repeat again.

Aston Villa’s Tim Sherwood said: “We’ve got to look higher than just staying in the Premier League. We’ll take that on and it’s my job to make sure we build the club and, hopefully, make sure we don’t find ourselves in a relegation battle again.Obviously we’re not going to go from that into a Europa League team next season but I think we need a consolidating season and to build the club and take it in the right direction.”

Rebuilding the team is the next task that Tim Sherwood wants to accomplish and he has already initiated this process as Manchester City’s Micah Richards was signed on a 4 year contract.

Micah Richards will be officially joining Aston Villa on July 1st. Richards is an experienced defender who has already lifted the Premier League title and Tim Sherwood was able to secure his services on a free transfer.

Emmanuel Adebayor is another player who is on the radar of Tim Sherwood and might be signed during the summer transfer window. The Togolese forward only managed to score 2 goals in 13 appearances during the past season and he is expected to be released by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
