Yannick Bolasie keen on pushing Aston Villa to promotion

Yannick Bolasie has said that he is keen to help Aston Villa secure promotion to the Premier League, now that he has joined the club on a season-long loan. The Congolese footballer fell out-of-favour under new Everton boss Marco Silva during the summer and he has now been offered the chance to revive his career with the Villains.

In a report covered by Villa’s official website, Bolasie spoke about the stature of the west Midlands outfit and indicated that he would give his best to help the team return to the English top-flight, he said: “My main aim here is to get this club promoted. A club of this stature has to be in the Premier League. I looked around both Villa Park and the training ground, and me and my family just said, ‘wow’. It’s Premier League everywhere you look. I’m here to make myself smile again and use all my ability to try and help the team. It’s great to be here.”

Steve Bruce’s side were hugely competitive during the course of the previous campaign but they could not quite secure an automatic promotion spot after dropping off during the backend of the season. As such, they had to settle for a playoff berth but they were eventually left disappointed after suffering a final defeat to Fulham at the Wembley.

Thereafter, there were suggestions that the club could enter into administration amid the financial constraints but the change of ownership has ensured that they have entered into the new campaign without losing any of their main players. Jack Grealish and James Chester were among those linked with probable exits but neither left before the transfer deadline after the Villains’ asking price was not met. Aston Villa have made a good start to the ongoing campaign and they are presently occupying the fourth spot with nine points.
