ASTON VILLA EYEING FOUR-MATCH UNBEATEN RUN

Aston Villa are hoping to avoid defeat for the first time in four Premier League games this season ahead of their trip to face fellow ex-European champions Nottingham Forest on Monday night. Villa are presently on a three-match unbeaten run after avoiding defeat against teams such as Manchester City, Southampton and Leeds United.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was under serious pressure as the Aston Villa manager last month, but the current unbeaten run has eased the pressure on him. At the time, Aston Villa were flirting with the relegation zone after losing three Premier League games on the bounce. The three-match losing sequence was brought to an end by the impressive draw at home to defending champions Manchester City. Jamaican star Leon Bailey scored for Villa to secure a 1-1 draw after ErlingHaaland had given City the lead just after the half-time break. Aston Villa are the only team to restrict ErlingHaaland and Manchester City to just one goal in the Premier League this season. Continue reading ASTON VILLA EYEING FOUR-MATCH UNBEATEN RUN

STEVEN GERRARD EYEING BURNLEY STARLET NATHAN COLLINS

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing Burnley defender Nathan Collins this summer, although they are not alone in expressing an interest. The Clarets may have been relegated from the Premier League last season but Collins was one of his side’s better performers throughout the campaign. The 21-year-old filled in impressively when the likes of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee were missing, making 19 appearances in the league in total and ranking as the club’s fourth best player.

With Burnley preparing for Championship football in 2022/23, it could be that Collins remains in the top flight moving forward.According to talkSPORT, Villa are ‘monitoring’ the centre-back’s situation, with his current deal at Turf Moor not expiring until the summer of 2025. New Burnley boss Vincent Kompany wants to build his defence around Collins, following the departure of Tarkowski and Mee, but he could find it hard to keep him, with Leeds United and Wolves also credited with interest. WILL CITY GO TROPHYLESS THIS SEASON

The question of whether Premier League holders Manchester City will win a trophy this season or not would be answered at the end of their home game with Aston Villa on the last day of the Premier League this season. It’s surprising that Manchester City have not won a trophy at this stage of the season. They are left with just one opportunity to win a trophy this season and that’s the Premier League title.

Manchester City will retain their Premier League title if they beat Aston Villa at home on Sunday irrespective of what happens in the other game between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester City and Liverpool are in a keenly contested Premier League battle with a solitary point separating the two teams. To this effect, there’s no margin for error when Manchester City play hosts to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium later this weekend. Only an home win over the Steven Gerrard-led Aston Villa side will ensure that Manchester City don’t have to watch their backs to check what the outcome of the Liverpool game will be. WHY IS GREALISH STRUGGLING AT MANCHESTER CITY?

Manchester City and England international attacking midfielder Jack Grealish is not a player of his former self at the Etihad Stadium and any football fan does not need to be told. Following several successful years as an Aston Villa player, he decided that it was time to move on to a bigger club. He started attracting interest from the two Manchester clubs in the English Premier League but United were the first side to have registered concrete interest in acquiring his services. However, the Red Devils were not willing to pay up the £100 million that Villa were demanding to let go of their prized asset. United’s reluctance to pay the hefty amount meant that their neighboring rivals, City, would be joining the party.

City did not spend too much time in negotiation with Villa and in no time, they eventually agreed to sign the player after establishing an agreement with the club based on a transfer fee. They also moved further to agree to the player’s wage demands and everything was sorted quickly and smoothly as Grealish be ame City’s club-record signing. Following his move to the Cityzens, Grealish was expected to be even a better player than he was at Villa Park but so far, that has not been the case.

ASTON VILLA EYEING UNITED STAR AHEAD OF JANUARY MOVE

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EwOIuNKWYAIBDDv.jpg

Aston Villa are said to be interested in signing Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo in the January winter transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options in the coming months. However, they are only expected to table an offer that will see them sign the player on loan instead of a permanent transfer, with United also not ready to let the player leave the club on a permanent basis. Villa had themselves a very exciting transfer window this summer and signed a couple of players, including young ce tram defender Axel Tuanzebe from United in the summer after the player signed a new contract extension before sealing the loan switch to Villa Park.

However, it looks like Villa manager Dean Smith wants to have more than one Manchester United star at the club and has now asked the club’s board to go all out and try to sign Diallo in the summer. Villa already have a lot of attacking options at their disposal but after making a huge statement with the number of players they signed in the summer, they want to follow up on that as they look to secure a top-half finish in the league come the end of the season. ASTON VILLA SET TO RETURN WITH THIRD BID FOR ARSENAL STAR

Aston Villa look determined to sign Arsenal star Emile Smith-Rowe and are set to return with a third bid for the player in less than two weeks after having their opening two bids turned down by the Gunners. Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is a huge admirer of the talented 20-year-old and has made it clear that he wants to complete a deal for him this summer, and that’s why they are preparing to return with a third bid for him. Smith-Rowe is also not making matters any easier for Arsenal and has been reluctant to put pen to paper on a new deal recently, giving the Villans the green light to table another official bid for him in the coming days.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to keep hold of his young star as he wants to continue putting together a group of talented young players that will be regarded as the club’s future who would most likely serve as weapons to be used to fight for titles as from next season. Arsenal’s absence from European football next season is a huge problem as it has not allowed them to get their hands on their major targets, and the least they want to do now is seeing some of their best prospects leave the club.

WILL GREALISH BE AT VILLA NEXT SEASON?

Fans of Aston Villa football club will be hoping that the club can do everything it takes to tie down star player Jack Grealish beyond this summer. Grealish was said to be close to joining Manchester United last summer as the Red Devils were highly interested in taking him to Old Trafford, but their failure to bend to Aston Villa’s demands meant that they would not be able to sign him. The club captain then eventually agreed to, and signed a new deal that would keep him at the club for a further five years.
