VILLA SECURE FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Aston Villa have recorded their first win of the new Premier League season following the 2-1 victory over Everton at home. The former European champions were able to record their first win of the season at the second time of asking on the back of the 2-0 loss to newly promoted team Bournemouth in their opener.

Bournemouth are one of the three promoted teams in the Premier League this season alongside Fulham and Nottingham Forest. They were underdogs during their game against Villa last week Saturday. At the end of proceedings, they shocked Villa via a 2-0scoreline.Ecuadorian starJefferson Lerma scored the opening goal for the Cherries before the win was sealed by Welsh striker Keifer Moore.

For the Everton game, Aston Villa took a one-goal lead into the half-time break thanks to the goal from Danny Ings. The Englishman scored the only goal of the first half off the assist from striker partner Ollie Watkins just after the half-hour mark. England international Watkins was also the provider of the second Villa goal scored by Emiliano Buendia who came on for the injuredPhilippe Coutinho. Everton got a lifeline two minutes after the Buendia goal thanks to the own goal from Frenchman Lucas Digne, but hosts Villa held on to seal a 2-1 win.

 

Aston Villa were able to recordtheir first league win this season courtesy the slim victory over Merseyside outfit Everton. For Everton, they made it two defeats in two games with the result against Villa thus making them the only team to lose two Premier League games this season as things stand.

 

Everton have a very poor record against Aston Villa and the record goes on after the Toffees’ latest trip to Villa Park. Their last win against Villa came six years ago via a 3-1 victory.
