Terry Is Lampard’s Worst Nightmare In Goalkeeping

Terry had a secret love of going in goal, Chelsea’s all-time record scorer tells FourFourTwo while also revealing the most “outstanding” footballer he ever played with. Blues icon Lampard has been giving us the lowdown on his team-mates in a new FourFourTwo video and from the latest to the greatest. As you might expect, Lampard plumps for his long-term captain, leader, legend in several categories.

“John would go in goal and we’d all smash balls at him for 15 minutes before training started… He was actually pretty good! I’m mentioning John too much,” he chuckles as he picks out JT for hardest trainer and toughest tackler but also admits his old mucker loved playing in goal. However, even Lamps’s praise doesn’t stretch to calling Terry his most talented team-mate. That honour he saves for the magical Eden Hazard. High praise for the boy Eden considering some of the players Lampard has lined up with.

Amavi is on the transfer list as manager Steve Bruce does not see what other see in him. Marca claims that La Liga side Sevilla asked that Aston Villa transfer the player to them for £5.3 million but Villa say they would not release him for anything less than £9 million. Villa paid that amount for the player barely two years ago so the club chief Tony Xia wants something close. Continue reading VILLA REJECT BID FOR FRENCH STAR

Aston Villa keen on reunion with Hull City Defender

Aston Villa have been linked with a potential move for Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady following the Tigers’ relegation from the top flight.

The Egypt international previously plyed his trade under Bruce at the KCOM Stadium before the latter switched clubs due to a disagreement over the transfer plans last summer.Elmohamady, who currently has two years left on his contract, admitted in February that he was gutted by the Englishman’s exit, but wishes him well on his fresh challenge at Villa Park.

“He’s a big manager, one of the most experienced in England, and it was very, very disappointing when he left,” he told The Guardian.

Aston Villa is slowly recovering from their mediocre start of the season

Aston Villa kicked off their 2016-17 English League Championship campaign by suffering 3 defeats, 7 draws and only 1 victory from their 11 initial league matches.

It’s because of this slow start of the season that Aston Villa was drowning in the bottom spots of the 2nd tier English League.

For the past few weeks, Steve Bruce and his squad have started to collect more points on a consistent basis and have slowly been recovering from their underwhelming start of campaign.

The latest league match of Aston Villa saw them claiming a 2-0 triumph over Wigan Athletic in a match that was played on March 18 and this victory was their 5th triumph out of their 6 latest games. Continue reading Aston Villa is slowly recovering from their mediocre start of the season

BRUCE – NEW SIGNINGS CAN HANDLE PRESSURE AT VILLA

Steve Bruce has come out to defend his signings as the team’s woeful performance continues.

The Villa boss has supervised five losses in the last nine games despite starting with a stellar record of seven games undefeated. The coach defended his signings, saying any that joined the club and prospective ones were capable of handling the pressure at a club like Aston Villa before they were signed.

Three straight losses without any goal is threatening the fine start of the manager. The FA Cup exit, the 13th spot on the current Championship log and 10 points off the play-off spot is a bad omen for Bruce who might also get evicted from his seat as Villa are desperate for the quickest return to top flight English football.

“If there’s been a falling, we’ve just bought and bought and bought. It’s just piled and piled and piled that has not improved. But we are a big scalp. Everyone wants to beat us in this division. I have to be 100% right that the people who we are bringing to the club can handle playing for Aston Villa, Bruce was quoted to have said. ASTON VILLA LINKED WITH HULL CITY FORWARD

Aston Villa have been linked with Hull City forward Abel Hernandez.

Sources from Italy report that the English side want to make a move for the player in the January transfer window. The reports say Steve Bruce is impressed with the performance of the striker and wants to add him to the team when the opportunity presents itself.

The 26-year old Uruguay international is supposed to lead the front row attack when current strikers who are Africans return to play the African Cup of Nations in the New Year. The player was speculated massively during the summer but the deal did not happen. Villa would likely go the extra mile when the next transfer window opens.

Bruce would be hoping that the core of the team that played during the last international window this year return without injuries. A large chunk of the team travelled for various World Cup qualifying campaigns and/or international friendlies but Bruce would be hoping they all come back unscathed as they continue the season.

Already when Aston Villa visit Amex on Friday, they would be without Mile Jedinak. The midfielder would be on international duty for Australia and Bruce feels he would not have enough time to recover before the trip; hence, there are plans for his replacement.

Jedinak’s likely replacement is any of Ashley Westwood, Leandro Bacuna, Tommy Elphick or Aaron Tshibola. Westwood remains the most likely as a tested player. Where there has been openings say due to injuries, Westwood has always helped.

Bacuna has the edge due to his energy and drive. Injury made his miss the last two games. If he passes a final fitness test ahead of the clash, Bruce might give him the nod. Tshibola and Elphick are options however unlikely.
